A Million Litle Refunds
Random House will be honoring refund requests for copies of James Frey’s alleged “memoir,” “A Million Little Pieces.”
Random House hastened to add that this was standard policy. Of course, they didn’t defend Frey’s work either.
Since the controversy, “A Million Little Pieces” has remained the No. 1 selling book on Amazon.com.
There is no such thing as bad PR? 🙂
I don’t understand why everyone is getting so upset with this book – is it not a fictional book? – is it not a “story” by definition a story is an account of events, history, tale, plot of a narrative or “dramatic” work, in this case – a widely circulated rumor.
I guess I just don’t understand why people are getting so bent out of shape over this??? Any thoughts?
The problem is that Random House released the book as non-fiction, and Frey has been vociferous about the fact that the book is a true story, and that any allegations against him are a lie.
If Frey had just said, “Yep, it’s fictional,” there would be no furor. He brought this on himself.
