Silicon Valley Junto: The Pursuit of Happiness

Dear Readers,

The Silicon Valley Junto convenes in Palo Alto on April 11th at 12:30 PM for lunch. If you crave the lost pleasure of intellectual discussion about something other than the merits of AJAX calendars, you should attend!

My friend and famous teen entrepreneur Ben Casnocha (http://www.usatoday.com/tech/2006-01-17-tech-teen_x.htm) and I started the Junto as a forum for business and technology people to talk about intellectual topics we don’t normally discuss, but are very relevant to our lives.

The Junto is named after Ben Franklin’s mutual improvement society he founded in 1727:”Junto, pronounced who-n-toe, was a private forum for discussion and a surreptitious instrument for leading public opinion.”

Not only does this exercise dormant mental muscles, but it’s also good for business:breakthrough insights occur at the intersection of ideas!

Last quarter we had an great discussion about “Americanism” including many different takes on the concept from Americans and non-Americans alike.

This quarter, our topic is “The Good Life: The Pursuit of Happiness in Silicon Valley.”
I would love to have you join me for a fun, stimulating conversation, good food, and a chance to meet and greet peers. Reply back if you can make it, or post your name on the wiki:

We are also having the same discussion on April 12th at 12:30 PM in San Francisco if that’s more convenient.

  1. That is very cool… maybe we should think about doing an East Coast one.

I would be happy to host one in NYC or Boston.
