The Gift Of Asking

One of the kindest and most useful favors you can do for a friend is to ask interesting questions.

In her classic work of children’s literature, “Power of Three,” Diana Wynne Jones writes about children with magical powers. There are many powers described in the book, but the one considered the greatest is “the gift of sight unasked”.

The gift of sight unasked is so powerful (much more powerful than the gift of sight–being able to answer any question) because it is more difficult to come up with the right questions, than the right answers.

Most of us are pretty good at answering questions, but not as good at asking them.

As an entrepreneur and leader, do you have the gift of sight unasked? And do you give the gift of asking to your friends, colleagues, and employees?
