Quotes of the Day

“There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.”
–Peter Drucker

“Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge; it requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge, according to George Eliot, is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.”
–Bill Bullard

Here is an interesting quote by Edison. “Everybody steals in commerce and industry but I know how to steal.” It makes me wonder if whether or not Edison is really known for the brilliance of his inventions or if he is simply known for his knack of stealing other people’s inventions.

  2. Stream-jaying…a new form of aud/vid communications that could effectively bridge the chasm of the quotes today…

    life-streams + VJ softwares = empathetic shared experience…

(i’m writing a thesis about this today, and the rest of this month, yipee!!!)

How interesting, an opinion based on a shallow understanding of the word opinion and the elevation of empathy based on the same thing.

Both of those words are more complex than the quote would allow; opinion being also a sound judgment with accountability and understanding (a legal or medical opinion) and empathy also meaning vicarious experiencing (hardly profound).

    And that from an educator.
